Digital Marketing for Branding Studios in Nepal
A branding studio gets asked the same question at the end of every pitch: can you also do the website and get us on Google? The studio that says yes, and has someone reliable behind it, keeps the whole account. I'm that someone for studios in Nepal.
Animated brand identity: a logo mark assembles from three shapes, a colour palette and type scale appear beneath it, and the mark is applied in turn to a business card, a phone screen and a signboard, showing brand identity work as one system applied everywhere.
I'm Shashikant Shah, a digital marketing expert in Kathmandu and a software engineer with a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. I work with branding and design studios in Nepal as the technical and SEO partner they can put in front of their own clients. I've delivered brand identity and the website together for Treebones Resort, a brand system and logo for Jhalko, and website design for NIMBUS Holdings, so I know both sides of the handover. My prices are published, and I build the sites, the tracking and the redirects myself.
Short answer: digital marketing for a branding studio in Nepal means two things. Your own studio needs to be found for searches like "branding agency in Kathmandu", with a portfolio that loads fast. And your clients need the identity you designed to survive the website build, the Google listing and the launch, with tracking that shows it worked.
How branding studios choose a technical partner in Nepal
It usually starts with a client, not with the studio. A hotel in Pokhara or a college in Lalitpur signs off the new identity and asks, in the same meeting, who's doing the website and the Google side. The studio says yes, because saying no hands the account to a bigger agency. Then the search for someone who can actually build it starts.
That search runs through WhatsApp and referrals. A studio asks a friend, gets a freelancer's number, and the site gets built by someone who has never opened the brand guidelines. Six weeks later the client has a slow site in the wrong colours, and the studio's name is on it.
The second path is the studio's own site. Clients search "branding agency in Kathmandu" or "logo design in Nepal", look at three portfolios and message one on Instagram. A portfolio full of large images on a shared host loads slowly on mobile data, and the client moves on before the first case study appears.
Then there's timing. The launches I see are pushed to land before Dashain, or before the wedding season in Mangsir, and the technical work gets squeezed into the last two weeks. That's when redirects get skipped, the old name keeps ranking and the new one doesn't show on Maps.
The problems I see most often:
- A portfolio site full of uncompressed images on a shared host, so the studio's own best work loads slowly on a phone.
- Brand guidelines delivered as a PDF, then a website built by someone who never read them.
- A rebrand that goes live with no redirects, so the client's old pages die and the rankings go with them.
- A new name on the signboard and the old name still on Google Maps, Facebook and Daraz.
- No tracking after launch, so the studio can't show the client that the new brand did anything.
What I do for branding studios
- Web development: I build the client's site to your brand system, with your type, colours and spacing intact, and hand you a site you'd put in your own portfolio.
- Technical SEO: speed, image compression and Core Web Vitals on image heavy sites, yours and your clients'. For a rebrand, the redirect map and Search Console migration, so the old rankings carry over.
- Google Business Profile management: the new name, logo and photos on Maps, the old listings merged or closed, so the rebrand shows up where people look first.
- Social media SEO: handles, bios, cover images and the link in bio matched across Facebook, Instagram and TikTok on launch day.
- Meta ads: launch and lead generation campaigns with the creative you designed, in the client's own ad account, the way I ran them for Jhalko.
- Tracking: Analytics, Search Console and conversion tracking installed before launch, so the report you send the client has real numbers in it.
The first 90 days
Days 1 to 30. I look at your own site first, because it's the one every client checks. Speed, images, the pages that should rank for your name and your specialisms, and tracking. At the same time we agree how we work: in your client's accounts, under your name or mine, with a written scope for the first project.
Days 31 to 60. The first client project ships. Usually that's a site built to your guidelines, or a rebrand migration with the redirect map, the Google Business Profile update and the social handles done on the day the new identity goes public. You review it before your client sees it.
Days 61 to 90. We look at the numbers on your site and the client's: speed scores, Search Console impressions, calls and enquiries against the baseline. You get a report you can put your own name on. Then we decide whether this is project by project or a monthly arrangement. You get all of this as a written plan before we start, with what's not included.
Who I've worked with in branding
Treebones Resort, Jhalko and NIMBUS Holdings are on my case studies page under the scope I delivered. For Treebones it was the brand identity and the website together, plus Facebook, TikTok and YouTube Shorts content, the deployment workflow and the Cloudflare setup. For Jhalko it was the brand system, the logo and the lead generation campaigns. For NIMBUS Holdings it was website design and promotion. I haven't published a studio partnership with numbers attached yet, and I won't invent one.
The technical proof is this website. I built it myself, and it passes 15 automated checks on every deploy, the same standard I hold a client's site to. The closest published number is a Kathmandu ecommerce site whose organic sessions went from 2,300 to 13,500 a month over 12 months. That came from an engagement I worked on as part of an agency team, so read it as the account's total.
What it costs for branding studios
My prices are published. An audit of your studio site or one client project with a 30 day action plan is USD 249, about NPR 34,000. A four week sprint is USD 899, about NPR 122,000. Ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month, about NPR 245,000. What each one leaves out is on the pricing page. The first thirty minute call is free, and if your client only needs the audit, I'll tell you that before you quote them.
Questions branding studios ask
Can we put you in front of our client, or do you stay white label?
Either. Some studios introduce me by name as their technical partner and I join the client calls. Others keep me behind the studio and I deliver to you. We agree it at the start, and I never pitch your client on my own.
Do you design logos or identities yourself?
I have, for Jhalko and for Treebones Resort. With a studio, I don't. You own the identity and I build what it lives on: the site, the listings, the tracking. If a client comes to me needing a brand, I send them to a studio.
How long does a client site take?
A brochure site built to a finished brand system usually takes four to six weeks from the day I have the guidelines and the content. A rebrand migration with redirects is quicker, often two weeks, but it has to be planned before launch day, not after. You get dates in the written plan.
Can we mark up your price?
Yes. My prices are published here, and what you charge your client is your business. Most studios add their management fee on top or bundle my work into the project. I invoice you, not your client, unless we've agreed otherwise.
Will a rebrand lose our client's Google rankings?
Some, if it goes live without a redirect map and a Search Console migration. Done properly, most of what the old name had carries across within a few months. I don't guarantee rankings, and the plan will say what we watch and when.
When are you not the right person?
When you need a second designer, or a team that can ship ten sites a month. I'm one person and I take on a few studio projects at a time. If your project needs more hands than mine, I'll say so on the first call and suggest where to look.
