Content Marketing Strategy in Nepal
Most content in Nepal gets written because someone said the blog needs updating. Then it sits there unread, while the pages that could bring customers don't exist. This is the planning that decides what to write, who writes it and how you'll know it worked.
Animated topic cluster: a page is written line by line on the left, then flies across to take its place around a central pillar page, linked to it, until six cluster pages surround the pillar, showing content marketing strategy as building connected topic authority rather than isolated posts.
I'm Shashikant Shah, a digital marketing expert in Kathmandu. Content marketing strategy is the plan behind everything a business publishes: which searches it wants to be found for, which pages answer them, who writes those pages and how often. I do it for hospitals, manufacturers, colleges and shops across Nepal, usually as the content half of the work on my SEO expert page. Because I also build websites, I fix the site myself when it's what blocks the content.
Short answer: content marketing strategy in Nepal means mapping the searches your customers actually type to specific pages on your site, deciding what each page says and whether it's in English or Nepali, agreeing who writes it and how often, and measuring it in Search Console and Analytics. You get a written plan and briefs, not a calendar of topics that nobody follows.
When you need this
A cement dealer in Butwal searches "OPC vs PPC cement for house" before he calls anyone. A patient in Kathmandu searches "knee pain doctor" and reads the clinic's page before booking. If your site has no page for that question, someone else's site gets the visit, usually a marketplace or a rival with a blog.
The businesses I meet have one of two problems. Either they publish nothing, because nobody knows what to write, or they publish a lot of the wrong thing: company news, festival greetings and an award post, none of which anyone searches for.
The other common one is the plan that died. An agency handed over a 30 topic calendar, two articles went up in the first month, then Dashain came and the whole thing stopped.
The problems I see most often:
- No keyword to page map, so two blog posts and the service page all target the same search and compete with each other.
- Content written in English for customers who search in Nepali or Romanised Nepali, and the reverse.
- A publishing schedule set for a marketing team of five, at a business where one person does it on Saturday afternoons.
- Articles with no link from the pages people actually visit, so Google finds them late and readers never do.
- No measurement, so nobody can say which page brought the enquiry that turned into a sale.
What I actually do
- Keyword research and a keyword to page map: every search worth winning gets one page, and I show you which are service pages, which are guides and which to skip. The method is in my keyword mapping guide. You get the map as a sheet you can keep using.
- A brief for each page: the question it answers, the headings, the words to use, the internal links and what a good answer looks like. Your writer, or I, work from that instead of a blank page.
- Language decisions: which pages need English, which need Nepali and which need both, based on what your customers type into Google, not on what the office prefers.
- A cadence you can keep: one strong page a fortnight beats a weekly plan that collapses by Kartik. The plan is sized to the people you actually have.
- Fixes when the site is the problem: category pages that don't exist, a CMS that fights every edit, a blog that loads in eight seconds. That becomes technical SEO or web development work, and I do both myself.
- Distribution after publishing: internal links from your busiest pages, a Google Business Profile post, a share on your Facebook page, and the pages worth earning links to, through link building.
- Measurement: each page tracked in Search Console and Analytics, with calls and WhatsApp clicks counted, so the monthly report says which pages brought enquiries. Dealers and exporters can see how this fits on the manufacturing page.
How it works
First call and audit. The first thirty minutes are free. You tell me what you sell and what you already publish, I look at your site and your Search Console, and I tell you where the gaps are and whether it's worth paying me. If you go ahead, the audit gives you a written 30 day plan: the keyword map, the first ten page briefs and what's not included.
The work. The plan runs in four week blocks, in your own accounts: your CMS, your Search Console, your Analytics. Each block the briefs go out, the drafts come back, I edit and publish, and the internal links go in.
Reporting, and what you keep. Every month you get a plain language report from your own Search Console and Analytics: which pages ranked, which brought calls or WhatsApp messages, and what to write next. The keyword map, the briefs and the pages stay yours if we stop.
Proof from content marketing strategy work
Ayush Hospital is on my case studies page for patient facing content strategy and promotion. Jay Mangalam Cements is there for content campaigns aimed at West Nepal, and Famous Steel and Home Appliances for product content. Those are the scopes I delivered, without numbers, and I won't invent a figure for this page.
The nearest published result by mechanism is a Kathmandu ecommerce business whose organic sessions went from 2,300 to 13,500 a month over twelve months, with organic led revenue roughly tripled. That was SEO work built on pages that answer what people search for, which is what a content plan produces, and I don't attribute it to content alone. Some of these came from engagements I worked on as part of an agency team, so read them as account totals rather than mine alone.
What content marketing strategy costs
My prices are published. An audit of what you publish, your keyword map and your tracking with a 30 day action plan is USD 249, about NPR 34,000. A four week sprint is USD 899, about NPR 122,000. Ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month, about NPR 245,000. What each one leaves out is on the pricing page. The first thirty minute call is free, and if the audit's keyword map is enough for your team to run with on its own, I'll say so.
Questions about content marketing strategy
Do you write the content yourself?
The strategy, the briefs and the editing are always mine. Drafting can be yours or mine. If your team knows the product and has the time, they write and I edit, which is cheaper and sounds more like you. If nobody has the time, I write, and I'll put that in the quote.
Should we write in English or Nepali?
Both, for different pages. People search for services and prices in English more than you'd expect, even in Pokhara or Biratnagar, and questions about health, farming or government processes often come in Nepali or a mix. Search Console shows the words your visitors actually use, and the map follows that, not a guess.
How long before content brings enquiries?
A new page usually starts ranking for its longer, specific searches in six to twelve weeks, and the competitive ones take three to six months. The first pages I write are the ones closest to a purchase, like a price guide or a comparison, because they pay back fastest. I don't guarantee rankings.
What does it cost, and what if we can't afford ongoing work?
The audit at USD 249, about NPR 34,000, gives you the keyword map and the first briefs, and many small businesses run with that on their own. Ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000 a month), or a four week sprint at USD 899 (about NPR 122,000). What each one leaves out is on the pricing page.
How is this different from your SEO consulting?
SEO consulting covers the whole site: technical fixes, on page work, links and the Business Profile. This page is the plan for what you publish, who writes it and how it's measured. If your site is healthy and the gap is pages that don't exist yet, start here.
When are you not the right person?
If you want ten articles a week generated by AI with nobody checking them, I'll say no. Google is good at spotting that, and your readers are better. If you need a full time social media manager or a video team, that isn't me, and I'll point you to people who do that.
