I'm Shashikant Shah, an SEO consultant in Kathmandu and a software engineer. SEO consulting is the core of my work: I audit your site, write a plan you can act on, then do the work month by month in your own accounts. It's for a business in the Valley, or anywhere in Nepal, with a website and a real search problem: flat enquiries, a service nobody finds, a redesign coming. The wider picture is on my SEO expert page, and the city itself is on the Kathmandu page.

Short answer: SEO consulting in Kathmandu means a paid audit of your site against the competitors that outrank you, a written plan in priority order, then the fixes: technical, pages, Business Profile, links, tracking. Expect the first movement in Search Console within two to three months and real enquiry growth in six to twelve. Nobody honest promises a ranking.

When you need this

The usual moment is this. The business has a website someone built three years ago, a Facebook page that does the real work, and a feeling that Google should be sending more. Searches like "dental clinic in Baneshwor" or "laptop price in Nepal" go to a competitor, a directory or Daraz, and nobody knows why.

Or a redesign is coming and the developer hasn't said a word about redirects. Or an agency has been paid for a year of "SEO" and the report is a list of rankings for words nobody types.

Kathmandu makes it harder in one specific way. The Valley is where most Nepali websites are, so the competition for a term like "web hosting in Nepal" or "IVF centre in Kathmandu" is real, and the top spots are held by sites that have been publishing for years. One blog post won't beat them. A plan and a year of doing it will.

The problems I see most often:

  • Service pages that describe the business in general and never name the thing people search for, so "tax consultant in Lalitpur" finds a directory instead of you.
  • A site that loads slowly on NTC or Ncell data, with photos uploaded straight from the phone at full size.
  • Search Console never opened, or opened and not understood, so nobody knows which pages Google shows or for what.
  • A Google Business Profile that's out of date while the website gets all the attention, when for a local search the profile is what ranks.

What I actually do

  • The audit: I go through your site the way Google does, crawling, indexing, speed, pages, internal links, and check what the competitors above you do that you don't. You get a written report tied to real URLs, ranked by value and effort.
  • A keyword to page map: which searches matter, which page should answer each one, and which pages to merge or remove. You get a map you can hand to a writer or a developer without me in the room.
  • Technical fixes: redirects, canonicals, rendering, Core Web Vitals, schema. I do most of it myself, and the deeper version is on the technical SEO page. You get a site Google can crawl and index without guessing.
  • Page work: titles, headings, the actual answer at the top of the page, internal links, and briefs for the pages you're missing, in English or Nepali depending on how your customers search. You get pages that match what people type.
  • Local and profile work when the search is local: categories, reviews, location pages, done as part of the local SEO work. You get found on the map for "near me" searches in your area.
  • Links within Google's rules: local press, suppliers, associations, colleges, the directories that matter. You get links you'd show anyone. I don't buy them.
  • Tracking: Search Console, GA4 and call and WhatsApp conversions set up in your own accounts. You get a monthly report that says whether enquiries moved, rather than positions alone. Shops selling online get the ecommerce SEO version of all this.

How it works

First call and audit. The first thirty minutes are free. Send me the domain and the one outcome that matters, and I'll tell you on the call whether SEO is even the right fix. If it is, the audit comes next: a written plan for the next 30 days, in priority order, with what's not included. Each item names the page, the evidence, the change and who does it.

The work. The following weeks are fixes, in your own Search Console, Analytics and CMS, with me added as a user. Technical items go first because they block everything else, then the pages closest to ranking, then the pages you're missing. If your developer or writer is doing part of it, they get briefs they can check their work against.

Reporting, and what you keep. Every month you get a plain language report from your own Search Console and Analytics: what changed, what I'm unsure of, and the next decision. Brand searches are counted separately, so growth in people who already know you doesn't get dressed up as SEO. Every account, document and page stays in your name. If we stop, you lose my access and nothing else.

Proof from SEO consulting in Kathmandu work

Two published results come from Kathmandu. An ecommerce site went from about 2,300 to about 13,500 organic sessions a month over twelve months, up 487%, and the revenue that came through organic search roughly tripled. A clinic's map views went from about 2,100 to about 9,240 a month in six months, with calls up about 85%. Some of these came from engagements I worked on as part of an agency team, so read them as account totals rather than mine alone. The baselines and dates are on the case studies page.

Neither happened in a month or came from one trick. Both followed the sequence this page describes, repeated. I don't publish a number I can't show with a baseline and a date.

What SEO consulting in Kathmandu costs

My prices are published. An audit of your site, your competitors and your tracking with a 30 day action plan is USD 249, about NPR 34,000. A four week sprint is USD 899, about NPR 122,000. Ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month, about NPR 245,000. What each one leaves out is on the pricing page. The first thirty minute call is free, and if the audit alone gives your own developer enough to work on for six months, I'll say so rather than sell you a retainer.

Questions about SEO consulting in Kathmandu

How long before SEO shows results in Kathmandu?

Technical fixes and better titles usually show in Search Console within four to eight weeks. Ranking for a competitive Valley term takes three to six months, and enquiry growth you'd notice in the bank takes six to twelve. I give you review points along the way, and I don't guarantee rankings.

What does an SEO consultant cost in Kathmandu?

My prices are above and on the pricing page: USD 249 (about NPR 34,000) for the audit, USD 899 (about NPR 122,000) for a four week sprint, USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000 a month) for ongoing work. For what others in Nepal charge, read what SEO costs in Nepal.

Should I hire you or an agency?

It depends on what you need. With me, the person who scopes the work does the work, and I take a small number of clients at a time. An agency gives you more hands and an account manager. If you're comparing proposals, my guide to hiring an SEO consultant in Nepal lists the questions to ask.

How is this different from your technical SEO and local SEO pages?

This page is the whole engagement: the audit, the plan and the monthly work. Technical SEO is the crawling, indexing and speed layer on its own. Local SEO is the map and profile work. If your problem is clearly one of those, start there. If you don't know, start here.

Do you meet in person in Kathmandu?

Yes, for the first meeting and the big reviews, anywhere in the Valley. The work itself is remote, in your own accounts, which is how I work with clients in Pokhara, Biratnagar and abroad. The Biratnagar page describes the remote version.

When are you not the right person?

If nobody searches for what you sell yet, SEO can't create the demand, and Facebook content or ads can. If you need enquiries this week, Google Ads is the honest answer. If you want bought links, fake reviews or a keyword stuffed business name, I'll say no.
