I'm Shashikant Shah, a digital marketing expert based in Kathmandu, and a software engineer, so I build the pages and the tracking myself. I work with businesses across the city in their own accounts, and I meet clients in person when that's faster than a call. I'm useful to clinics, schools and consultancies, restaurants, shops, housing projects and software companies. The wider work is on my digital marketing expert in Nepal page.

Short answer: working with me from Kathmandu starts with a free thirty minute call. Then a written audit and 30 day plan for USD 249 (about NPR 34,000), and monthly work in your own accounts with a plain language report. Prices are published, everything stays in your name, and I answer my own phone.

Kathmandu is the most crowded place in Nepal to rank. A search for "dentist in Maharajgunj" or "cafe in Lazimpat" gets a map with three names, and every hospital, college and consultancy in the city wants those spots.

Each part of the city searches differently. Tourists in Thamel search in English before they land. Shoppers around New Road and Asan compare prices on Facebook and Hamrobazar first. Parents around Putalisadak and Baneshwor read a consultancy's reviews and message it on WhatsApp. Wholesalers in Kalanki and Balaju get found by dealers on Google and close on the phone.

Then there's the family abroad. Someone in Sydney or Doha searches for a hospital or a flat for their parents in Kathmandu and decides from the profile, the reviews and the website, because they can't visit.

New Road, Durbarmarg and the showrooms people compare before they visit

A buyer for a phone, a bike or gold in Kathmandu reads prices on Facebook, Hamrobazar and the brand page, then walks into the New Road or Durbarmarg showroom already decided. The showroom that publishes the price and answers on WhatsApp gets that walk in.

Thamel, Lazimpat and hospitality booked from abroad

Hotels, restaurants and trekking offices in Thamel and Lazimpat are chosen in English, weeks before the guest lands in Kathmandu, from the map pack, the photos and the reviews. Ranking in the guest's country matters as much as ranking in Nepal.

Baneshwor, Putalisadak and the consultancies, colleges and clinics searched by area

Around Baneshwor and Putalisadak a parent or a patient searches "ielts class" or "dermatologist" with the area name, reads the reviews and messages before calling. In Kathmandu the area page and the Business Profile category decide who gets that message.

The problems I see most often:

  • A Google Business Profile set up years ago with the wrong category, old photos and reviews nobody answers.
  • A website that looks fine in the office and crawls on a phone in a microbus.
  • Facebook ads that bring likes and no enquiries, because the landing page has no phone number.
  • No idea which calls came from Google, Facebook or the signboard, because nothing is tracked.

What I do for businesses in Kathmandu

  • Local SEO in Kathmandu: the profile, the area pages and the reviews, so "physio in Baneshwor" finds you and not a directory. You get more calls from Maps.
  • Google Business Profile management: the right category, hours that stay correct through Dashain and Tihar, real photos and a reply to every review. You get a listing that stays accurate.
  • Technical SEO and web development: I fix the slow site and the failing form myself. You get a site that loads on mobile data, with a page for each service.
  • Google Ads in Kathmandu and Meta ads: campaigns aimed at the neighbourhoods that can reach you, landing on pages that work. You get a cost per lead you can read.
  • Ecommerce SEO for shops selling online beside Daraz, and tracking so calls, WhatsApp clicks and orders are counted in your own Analytics. You get a monthly report that says what changed.

If you run a clinic, a school or consultancy, a housing project or a software company, those pages go deeper.

SEO in Kathmandu

Kathmandu is the only city in Nepal where the search results are crowded in every sector. Type "dentist in Baneshwor", "ielts class in Putalisadak" or "flat for sale in Budhanilkantha" and you get a map pack, two or three agencies, a directory and a dozen businesses fighting for the rest. Ranking here is a different job from ranking in Butwal. You need the right Google Business Profile category, a page for each service and each area you serve, reviews that mention the service, and a site that loads on mobile data in New Road at lunchtime.

I do the whole stack myself: the technical fixes, the service pages, the schema and the internal links, in your own Search Console. I also tell you which searches are worth chasing. "SEO company in Kathmandu" sends you agencies looking for work; "orthodontist in Lazimpat" sends you patients. The detail of how I work as an SEO consultant in Kathmandu is on its own page, and local SEO in Kathmandu covers the Maps side.

Websites for Kathmandu businesses

Most Kathmandu sites I audit were built once, for a launch, and never touched again. They load in eight to twelve seconds on a phone, the contact form posts to an inbox nobody checks, and the only working button is the Facebook icon. For a school in Baluwatar or a hospital in Maharajgunj that is where the enquiry dies.

I build and rebuild sites in Next.js and plain HTML with a measured budget: under 2.5 seconds to the main content on mobile, a WhatsApp and call button on every page, tracking that records the enquiry, and hosting in your own name. If you already have a WordPress site that mostly works, I fix the speed and the forms instead of selling you a rebuild. The website development page has the stack, the prices and what you get at handover.

Kathmandu is the one city in Nepal where competition prices clicks like a capital, so a loose campaign burns a month's budget on job seekers and agencies. I run Google Search campaigns for Kathmandu businesses in your own ad account, aimed at the neighbourhoods you can serve, with call and WhatsApp conversions counted before the first rupee is spent. Ad spend is separate from my fee and goes from your own card to Google. The published benchmark is an education consultancy whose cost per lead went from NPR 3,500 to NPR 2,100 at an unchanged NPR 300,000 monthly spend. For social media marketing in Kathmandu I run Meta campaigns with a landing page and a counted enquiry, not boosted posts. The Google Ads in Kathmandu page has the scope and the Google Ads expert in Nepal page has the method.

How it works from Kathmandu

First call. Thirty minutes, free, on the phone or a video call. You tell me what's not working, and I tell you whether I'm the right person.

Audit and plan. I go through your profile, your site, your ads and your tracking. You get a written plan with the order of work and what's not included.

Monthly work and report. The work happens in your accounts, with you as the owner. Every month you get a plain language report from your own Search Console, Analytics and ad accounts, and we can meet in Kathmandu when a project needs it.

  • Published prices and a plain language report every month, from your own accounts.

Choosing someone for digital marketing in Kathmandu

Kathmandu has more digital marketing agencies than any other city in Nepal, and the gap between them is wide. Before you sign with anyone, including me, ask for three things: a result with a baseline and a date, written confirmation that the website, ad accounts and Business Profile stay in your name, and a price in writing. Then ask who will actually do the work. In many agencies the person in the pitch meeting hands you to a junior after the contract.

With me the person you meet is the person doing the work, and I can open the code when the problem turns out to be the website, which in Kathmandu it usually is. I am based in the city, so a working session at your office in Baneshwor, Thamel or Lalitpur side is a short ride, not a trip. My Google reviews and case studies are there so you can check me the same way.

Proof from work like yours in Kathmandu

Two of my published results are from Kathmandu businesses. An ecommerce shop went from 2,300 to 13,500 organic sessions a month in 12 months, up 487%, and revenue led by organic search roughly tripled. A clinic's map views went from about 2,100 to about 9,240 a month in six months, up 340%, with calls up about 85%.

Some of these came from engagements I worked on as part of an agency team, so read them as account totals rather than mine alone. The baselines and dates are on the case studies page.

What it costs in Kathmandu

My prices are published. An audit of your Google profile, your pages and your tracking in Kathmandu with a 30 day action plan is USD 249, about NPR 34,000. A four week sprint is USD 899, about NPR 122,000. Ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month, about NPR 245,000. What each one leaves out is on the pricing page. The first thirty minute call is free, and if a single shop only needs the audit, I'll say so.

Questions from Kathmandu businesses

How much does digital marketing cost in Kathmandu?

For a Kathmandu business the audit with a 30 day plan is USD 249 (about NPR 34,000), a four week sprint is USD 899 (about NPR 122,000) and ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000). Kathmandu agencies quote NPR 15,000 to 90,000 a month for retainers, and the difference is who does the work and what is counted. Ad spend is separate and goes from your own card to Google or Meta. Details on the pricing page.

How do I choose a digital marketing agency or consultant in Kathmandu?

Ask for a result with a baseline and a date, written confirmation that your website, ad accounts and Google Business Profile stay in your name, a price in writing, and the name of the person who will do the work. Anyone who promises a ranking or offers to buy reviews should be crossed off. I publish all of these on this site so you can judge me the same way.

Can you do SEO for a business in Kathmandu?

Yes. SEO in Kathmandu means winning the map pack and the service searches in a crowded market: the right Business Profile category, a page per service and area, reviews, schema and a fast mobile site. I do the technical work myself in your own Search Console, and I tell you which searches bring customers rather than agencies.

Do you have an office in Kathmandu?

I'm based in Kathmandu and I meet clients in person when it helps, at your office or over a coffee. I don't run a walk in office, because most of the work happens in your accounts from a laptop.

How long until we see results?

Profile fixes usually show in calls within four to six weeks. Ranking for competitive Kathmandu searches takes three to six months, longer against hospitals and colleges that have been at it for years. Ads bring enquiries within days.

Do you work with hospitals and clinics in Kathmandu?

Yes, and one of my published results is a Kathmandu clinic. Patients search for a specialist by area and read the reviews before they call, so the profile, the doctor pages and call tracking come first. The healthcare page has the detail.

When are you not the right person?

If you want a promise of rankings, bought reviews or a listing for a branch you don't have, I'll say no. If you need daily social posting or someone at your office every day, I'll point you to people who do that.
