Google Ads Management in Kathmandu, Nepal
Your customers are in Lalitpur, Baneshwor and Bhaktapur, and your ads are showing to all of Nepal. Or the leads arrive by phone and WhatsApp and the account can't see them. This is the moment to make the ads pay for the Valley you actually serve.
Animated ad auction: four bids rise side by side, the winning bid flies into the top ad slot of a search results page, the ad's headline and description fill in, and a click lands on it, showing Google Ads management in Kathmandu as winning the auction for the right slot at the right price.
I'm Shashikant Shah, a digital marketing expert in Kathmandu. This page is the Google Ads management I do, applied to businesses in the Valley: clinics, consultancies, repair and home services, showrooms and shops whose customers live within a few kilometres. It sits next to local SEO in the work I describe on the Google Ads expert page, and it runs in your own account.
Short answer: Google Ads management in Kathmandu means targeting the areas your customers actually come from, counting calls and WhatsApp messages as conversions, a tight set of search campaigns with negatives reviewed weekly, ads shown when someone can answer the phone, and a landing page that matches the search. Expect a cost per lead you can trust in four to six weeks, in NPR.
When you need this
Someone in Baneshwor searches "dental clinic near me" at nine in the evening. Someone in Thamel searches "laptop repair" from a hotel. Someone in Suryabinayak searches "water tank cleaning" on a Saturday. Each sees an ad first, and each calls the one whose page answers the search and whose number is one tap away.
In the Valley you're rarely the only business bidding on those words. Several others in your category are in the same auction, so the account that's loose on match types and negatives pays for the same wasted clicks as everyone else, at a higher price. The fix isn't a bigger budget, it's a tighter account.
Most Kathmandu accounts I open target all of Nepal, count a page view as a conversion and send every click to the homepage. The leads that do come in arrive by phone and WhatsApp, and the account never sees them.
The problems I see most often:
- Location targeting set to Nepal, or to the whole Valley, when customers come from three or four areas.
- Calls and WhatsApp messages that the account can't count, so the cost per lead looks worse than it is.
- Broad match with no negatives, so a Lalitpur plumber pays for "plumbing course" and "plumber salary".
- Ads that run at three in the morning and on days the shop is closed, with nobody there to answer.
- A homepage as the landing page, loading slowly on a phone on Ncell or NTC data.
What I actually do
- Area targeting: campaigns targeted by area and by radius around your address, with the places that click but never call excluded. You stop paying for Bhaktapur clicks when your customers are in Lalitpur.
- Calls and WhatsApp as conversions: call tracking on the ad and on the page, and WhatsApp clicks counted, through Google Tag Manager and GA4. You get a cost per lead that includes the enquiries that never fill a form. The setup is on the tracking page.
- Structure and negatives: a small number of search campaigns grouped by what the searcher wants, with the search term report read every week and a negative list that grows. You see where every rupee went.
- Schedule and budget in NPR: ads shown when someone can answer the phone, and a monthly budget agreed in rupees against what a lead is worth to you. The card that pays Google, which has to work internationally, is sorted before launch.
- Ads and landing pages: ad copy that names the area and the service, and a page that keeps the promise. Where the page is the problem I fix it myself, as landing page optimisation.
- The rest of the Valley picture: how Google Ads sits with local search for a Kathmandu business is on the Kathmandu page, and local SEO in Kathmandu covers the map listings the ads sit above.
How it works
First call and audit. The first thirty minutes are free. You give me read only access, or tell me what you sell and which areas you serve if you haven't started, and I tell you where the waste is and whether ads can work at your budget. If you go ahead, the audit gives you a written 30 day plan, with what's not included.
The work. The tracking fix, the targeting and the rebuild go in over the first two to three weeks, in your own Google Ads account, with your billing attached and me as a manager. Then it's a weekly routine: search terms, negatives, bids, ad copy, and the location report.
Reporting, and what you keep. Every month you get a plain language report from your own account: spend in NPR, calls, WhatsApp enquiries, form fills, cost per lead, what changed and what I'll try next. If a month went badly, it says so. The account, its history and the learning stay yours if we stop, and I charge a fixed fee, never a percentage of your spend.
Proof from Google Ads management in Kathmandu work
An education consultancy's cost per lead went from NPR 3,500 to NPR 2,100, down 40%, and leads roughly doubled with the monthly spend unchanged at NPR 300,000. A home services business's cost per acquisition went from NPR 4,722 to NPR 2,571, down 46%, in 90 days. Both came from the mechanism on this page. Some of these came from engagements I worked on as part of an agency team, so read them as account totals rather than mine alone. The baselines and timeframes are on the case studies page.
I also ran route campaigns for Nepal Airlines Corporation, for Dubai, Delhi and domestic sectors, and I don't publish numbers for that work. I haven't published a result that is labelled by Kathmandu area, and I won't invent one.
What Google Ads management in Kathmandu costs
My prices are published. An audit of your Google Ads account, its targeting, tracking and landing pages with a 30 day action plan is USD 249, about NPR 34,000. A four week sprint is USD 899, about NPR 122,000. Ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month, about NPR 245,000. What each one leaves out is on the pricing page. The first thirty minute call is free, and if the audit alone shows the budget can't produce a reliable cost per lead in your category, I'll say so instead of taking the fee.
Questions about Google Ads management in Kathmandu
How is this different from your Google Ads page for Nepal?
The mechanism is the same, and the Nepal page explains it in full. This page is about the Valley: targeting by area rather than by country, counting calls and WhatsApp messages as conversions, and bidding against other Kathmandu businesses for the same words.
Can you show my ads only in Lalitpur, or only near my shop?
Yes. Google lets me target by city, by a radius around your address and by area, so a clinic in Jhamsikhel doesn't pay for clicks from Bhaktapur. It's not exact, because phones report location loosely, so I check the location report every month and exclude the places that click but never call.
What budget does a Kathmandu business need?
More than the same business in a smaller city, because more advertisers are bidding on the same words and clicks cost more. I won't quote one figure for everyone. On the first call I tell you whether your budget can work against what a click costs in your category, and if it can't, I say so.
How soon will I see calls?
Clicks start the day the campaigns go live, and calls usually follow within the first week if the ad and the page match the search. A cost per lead you can trust takes four to six weeks, because the tracking has to be right and the bidding needs conversions to learn from.
Do you count calls and WhatsApp messages as leads?
Yes, and in the Valley they're often most of the leads. I set up call tracking on the ad and on the page, and count clicks on the WhatsApp button, so the account sees the enquiries that never touch a form.
When are you not the right person?
If your customers are mostly outside the Valley, the Nepal page is the right one. If nobody searches for what you sell, I'll point you at Meta ads. And if you want a manager paid as a percentage of your spend, that isn't how I work.
