Google Business Profile Management in Nepal
When someone in Nepal searches for what you sell, Google Maps shows three listings before any website. This is the work that keeps yours accurate, active and ahead of the fake ones, month after month.
Animated Google Business Profile: beside a map pin, a listing fills in field by field, business name, category, a five-star rating, photos, contact details, call and directions buttons, then a new review arrives, showing profile management as keeping the listing complete and active.
I'm Shashikant Shah, a digital marketing expert in Kathmandu. Google Business Profile management is the operational half of the local SEO I do for clinics, shops, restaurants, schools and service businesses across Nepal. It's for any business a customer can visit or that travels to customers in a defined area. It sits inside the wider work I describe on the SEO expert page, and it's often the first thing I fix.
Short answer: Google Business Profile management in Nepal means getting the listing verified and owned by you, setting the right category, hours, services and photos, answering every review and question, reporting the fake competitors, and tracking calls and direction requests every month. Fixes show in weeks, ranking takes months, and the profile stays in your name.
When you need this
Someone in Kathmandu searches "dentist near me" or "hardware shop in Balaju" and Google shows three listings on a map before any website. The listing with current hours, real photos, a price list and answered reviews gets the call. The one that says "closed" on a Saturday it's open, or shows a photo from 2019, doesn't.
Most profiles I look at were set up once, by whoever had the login at the time, and never touched again. Reviews sit unanswered for a year. The category is a general one that Google can't match to the searches that matter. Nobody knows which phone number Google is showing.
Then there's the spam. In many categories in Nepal the map pack has listings with fake addresses, keyword stuffed names and bought reviews. You can report those, and it works more often than people expect, but someone has to do it and follow up.
The problems I see most often:
- The wrong primary category, so a clinic is listed as a "medical office" and never shows for "dentist".
- Hours that don't match reality, so the listing says closed during Dashain opening hours or open on a public holiday.
- Five old photos, no interior, no team, no products, and a logo as the cover.
- Reviews nobody answers, including the one star review from six months ago that every new customer reads first.
- No idea whether the listing brings calls, because nobody looks at the profile's own numbers or connects them to Analytics.
What I actually do
- Verification and ownership: I get the profile verified and make sure the owner login is yours, not a former employee's or an agency's. You keep the keys.
- Categories and services: the right primary category, the secondary ones that match how people search, and a service list with prices where you're happy to publish them.
- Hours, phone, address and website checked against what customers actually experience, with special hours set for Dashain, Tihar and public holidays.
- Photos and posts: a realistic photo plan you can follow with a phone, and a posting cadence that shows the listing is alive without becoming a full time job.
- Reviews: a simple way to ask real customers, and a reply to every review, including the bad ones, written with you.
- Q&A and spam: I answer the questions people leave on the listing and report the fake competitors that shouldn't be there.
- Tracking: calls, direction requests and website clicks from the profile counted in your own accounts, so the monthly report says what changed. That connects to the local SEO and tracking work when you need more than the profile.
How it works
First call and audit. The first thirty minutes are free. You send me the listing, I look at it against your competitors and tell you what's wrong and whether it's worth paying me to fix. If you go ahead, the audit gives you a written 30 day plan, with what's not included.
The work. The fixes go in over the first two weeks, in your own profile, with you as the owner. Then it becomes a monthly routine: photos, posts, review replies, Q&A, spam reports and a check that the hours and phone are still right.
Reporting, and what you keep. Every month you get a plain language report from the profile's own numbers and your Analytics: calls, direction requests, website clicks, what changed and why. The profile, the logins and the photos stay yours if we stop.
Proof from Google Business Profile management work
The closest published result is a Kathmandu clinic whose map views went from about 2,100 to about 9,240 a month in six months, with calls up about 85%. That was Google Business Profile and local SEO work, the same mechanism this page describes. Some of these came from engagements I worked on as part of an agency team, so read them as account totals rather than mine alone. The baseline, the timeframe and how to read it are on the case studies page.
Ayush Hospital, NPCRC and Daradia, The Pain Clinic, are on the same page under the scope I delivered. I don't publish a result I can't show with a baseline and a date, and I won't invent one for this page.
What Google Business Profile management costs
My prices are published. An audit of your profile against your competitors with a 30 day action plan is USD 249, about NPR 34,000. A four week sprint is USD 899, about NPR 122,000. Ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month, about NPR 245,000. What each one leaves out is on the pricing page. The first thirty minute call is free, and if the audit alone is enough for a single location, I'll say so.
Questions about Google Business Profile management
How is this different from your Local SEO page?
Local SEO is the whole picture: the profile, your website pages, citations, reviews and tracking. This page is the profile itself, kept accurate and active every month. If your profile is the only thing that's broken, start here.
Is my business eligible for a Google Business Profile?
If customers visit you at an address, or you travel to them inside a defined area, yes. An online only shop with no address or service area usually isn't. I'll tell you which one you are on the first call, because a profile that breaks the rules gets suspended, and suspensions take weeks to undo.
Can you create a listing for a location we don't actually have?
No. A fake address or a branch that doesn't exist breaks Google's guidelines and puts the real listing at risk too. I only set up profiles for real locations and honestly defined service areas.
How long until the profile brings more calls?
Fixing the category, hours, photos and services usually shows up in calls and direction requests within four to six weeks. Ranking above older competitors for area searches takes longer, often three to six months, and depends on reviews and your website as well.
What does it cost?
The audit is USD 249, about NPR 34,000, and for many single location businesses that plus a month of your own effort is enough. Ongoing management is part of the USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000 a month) retainer, or a four week sprint at USD 899 (about NPR 122,000). The details are on the pricing page.
When are you not the right person?
If you want fake reviews, a keyword stuffed business name or a listing for a location you don't have, I'll say no. If you need daily social posting or someone on site every day, I'll point you to people who do that.
