I'm Shashikant Shah, a digital marketing expert in Kathmandu. Social media SEO is the search side of social. It sits beside the SEO on my SEO expert page, and it's for any business in Nepal that already posts, or wants to, and isn't being found by people searching for what it sells. I don't run your account day to day. I set it up to be found and measured.

Short answer: social media SEO in Nepal means setting up Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn profiles with the words people search in the name and bio, location tags on every post, captions and titles that match those searches, a link that goes somewhere useful, and tracking so you know which platform brings customers. Setup takes weeks; discovery grows over months.

When you need this

The usual moment is a business that posts every day and gets likes from friends and no customers. The profile name is a logo word nobody searches, the bio has no location, the posts have no tags, and the link in bio goes to a homepage.

The second moment is a search you lost. Someone types "cafe in Jhamsikhel" or "dermatologist Kathmandu" into TikTok or Instagram, and a competitor's reel shows up. Yours doesn't appear, because nothing on your profile tells the app what you are or where.

The third is the diaspora and tourists. A family in Australia searching YouTube for a Kathmandu wedding venue, or a traveller in Lakeside searching Instagram for dinner, uses the app's own search, not Google.

The problems I see most often:

  • A profile name and handle with no category word, so the app's search can't match it to what people type.
  • No location tag on posts and no address in the bio, so "near me" and city searches skip you.
  • Captions that are emoji and a slogan, with none of the words a customer would search.
  • A link in bio that goes to a homepage instead of a menu, a booking form or a WhatsApp number.
  • No way to tell which platform brings customers, because nothing is tracked past the like count.

What I actually do

  • Profile setup on each platform that matters for you: name, handle, category, bio with the service and the city, address, hours, and the same details as your Google Business Profile.
  • Keyword research for social search: the words people type into TikTok, Instagram and YouTube for your service in Nepal, in English and romanised Nepali, mapped to your bio, captions and titles.
  • Location tags and place pages: your business as a taggable place on Instagram and Facebook, tagged on every post, so a customer who sees the reel can find you.
  • A link that does something: a menu, a booking page, a product page or a WhatsApp number, built or fixed by me as part of web development where needed, with UTM tags so the visit shows in Analytics.
  • YouTube titles, descriptions and chapters for businesses that explain things: colleges, clinics, trekking companies.
  • A weekly plan you can follow with a phone: what to film, what to write in the caption, which tag to use. I don't post for you; I make what you post findable. Paid reach sits with Meta ads.
  • Tracking: profile visits, link clicks, WhatsApp messages and bookings by platform in your own Analytics, so the monthly report says which app brought customers. The restaurants page shows this end to end for a cafe.

How it works

First call and audit. The first thirty minutes are free. Send me your handles and I'll search for your business inside each app the way a customer would. If you go ahead, the audit covers every profile, your competitors' profiles, the search terms and the link path, and you get a written 30 day plan with what's not included.

The work. Profiles, bios, tags and links are fixed in the first two weeks, in your own accounts, with you as the owner. Then the keyword map and the weekly plan go to whoever holds the phone. Four to six weeks in, we look at which searches and tags are bringing profile visits and adjust.

Reporting, and what you keep. Every month you get a plain language report from the platforms' own numbers and your Analytics: profile visits from search, link clicks, messages, bookings, what changed and why. The accounts, the content and the logins stay yours if we stop.

Proof from social media SEO work

Treebones Resort is the closest named work: Facebook, TikTok and YouTube Shorts content alongside the brand identity, website, deployment workflow and Cloudflare setup. NIMBUS Holdings hired me for social profile management, website design and promotion. Kyte Research and AirLyft, outside Nepal, for social channel optimisation as part of SEO, AEO and GEO work.

None of those carries a published number for social search, and I won't invent one. When I publish one it will have a baseline, a timeframe and a date, like every figure on the case studies page.

What social media SEO costs

My prices are published. An audit of your profiles, your search terms and your link path with a 30 day action plan is USD 249, about NPR 34,000. A four week sprint is USD 899, about NPR 122,000. Ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month, about NPR 245,000. What each one leaves out is on the pricing page. The first thirty minute call is free. If one platform is all you need and the audit gives you the fixes, I'll say so.

Questions about social media SEO

Do you post for us every day?

No. I set up the profiles, the tags, the keyword map, the link and the tracking, and I give you a weekly plan your own staff can follow with a phone. If you want an account run full time, I'll point you to people who do that.

Which platforms should we be on?

The ones your customers search in, which is usually two, not five. Restaurants and shops live on Instagram and TikTok, colleges and clinics on Facebook and YouTube, software companies on LinkedIn.

How is this different from Meta ads?

Ads buy reach for a budget and stop when the budget stops. Social media SEO is the free side: being found when someone searches inside the app, and being worth following when they arrive. Meta ads work better on a profile that's set up this way.

How long until it brings customers?

Profile and tag fixes show in profile visits within four to six weeks. Ranking inside TikTok or Instagram search for a term like "cafe in Jhamsikhel" takes longer, usually three to six months, and depends on how often you post.

What does it cost?

The audit is USD 249, about NPR 34,000, and for a single business on two platforms the audit plus a month of your own effort is often enough. Ongoing work is part of the USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000 a month) retainer. The details are on the pricing page.

When are you not the right person?

If you want followers bought, engagement pods or a promise that a video will go viral, no. If your customers don't search inside these apps at all, I'll say so and point you at Google instead.
