Analytics & Performance Tracking in Nepal
You've spent on ads, a website and maybe an agency, and the honest answer to "did it work" is still a guess. This is the work that makes your own Analytics say which page, which ad and which search brought the calls and the WhatsApp messages.
Animated analytics dashboard: events flow from a page into a dashboard where a trend line draws itself, a bar chart rises month by month and three KPI tiles fill with their change badges, showing analytics and performance tracking as turning raw events into decisions.
I'm Shashikant Shah, a digital marketing expert in Kathmandu and a software engineer. Analytics and performance tracking is the measurement behind everything else I do: GA4, Google Tag Manager and Search Console set up so a call, a WhatsApp click or an order is counted as what it is. It's for any business in Nepal spending money on marketing and unable to say what came back. It sits under the SEO, ads and content work on my digital marketing expert page, and because I write the site code too, I fix tracking at the source.
Short answer: analytics and performance tracking in Nepal means a GA4 property owned by you, Google Tag Manager carrying the tags, Search Console verified, conversions defined as calls, WhatsApp clicks, forms and payments, consent handled properly, and a monthly report in plain language. Setup takes two to three weeks. After that the numbers are yours to keep, whoever does your marketing.
When you need this
A clinic in Kathmandu runs Google Ads, Meta ads and a blog. The receptionist says most patients "found us online". Nobody can say which of the three, so the budget gets split by feeling every month.
Most GA4 properties I open were created when the old Analytics closed, connected to the site once and never configured. There's traffic, but no conversion events, so every report built on top says how many people came and nothing about what they did. Search Console is often not verified at all, or sits under a former developer's Google account.
The Nepal specific part is where customers actually convert. Very few fill in a form. They call, they message on WhatsApp or Viber, they walk in after checking the map, or they pay by eSewa or Khalti on a page that never fires a thank you event. If those aren't counted, your data says the marketing failed when it didn't.
The problems I see most often:
- GA4 installed, zero conversion events, and a year of data that answers nothing.
- Tags pasted straight into the theme by three different people, so page views fire twice and the ad platform reports more leads than the phone ever rang.
- Calls, WhatsApp clicks and Viber taps not tracked, which for most businesses in Nepal is where the leads are.
- Google Ads, Meta and Analytics disagreeing on the same number because they count different things, and nobody has sat down to reconcile them.
- A dashboard with forty charts that the owner opened twice.
What I actually do
- GA4 set up or audited in your own Google account: the property, the data streams, your office traffic filtered out, and the settings checked so the data can be trusted from the first day. You get a property you own, not one on my login.
- Google Tag Manager as the one place tags live: the old pasted tags come out of the theme, the new ones go in through a container you control, and each is tested before it goes live. You get a site that fires each event once.
- Conversions defined the way your business actually works: phone taps, WhatsApp and Viber clicks, form sends, booking confirmations and the return page after an eSewa, Khalti or Fonepay payment. The same events feed Google Ads and Meta, so the platforms optimise towards real enquiries.
- Search Console verified and connected to GA4, so the words people typed sit next to what they did on the page. That is the base for the content and landing page work.
- Consent handled properly: a consent banner wired to Google consent mode, so tracking respects the visitor's choice and still gives you numbers you can use. This site runs the same setup, with GA4 loaded only after the visitor interacts.
- A Looker Studio dashboard with the handful of numbers you decide on: spend, enquiries and cost per enquiry, by channel and by page. Clinics and hospitals can see how it fits on the healthcare page.
- A monthly report in plain language, built from your own accounts, that says what changed, why, and the one or two things to do next.
How it works
First call and audit. The first thirty minutes are free. You give me view access to GA4, Tag Manager and the ad accounts, and I tell you what the setup can and can't answer today, and whether it's worth paying me to fix. If you go ahead, the audit gives you a written 30 day plan: what's broken, what to count, in what order, and what's not included.
The work. Setup takes two to three weeks, in your own accounts. Old tags come out, the Tag Manager container goes in, conversions are built and tested on a phone as well as a laptop, Search Console is verified, consent is wired and the dashboard is built. If the site's own code is blocking a tag, I fix the code, because I write frontend and backend code myself.
Reporting, and what you keep. Every month you get a plain language report from your own GA4, Search Console and ad accounts: enquiries by channel, cost per enquiry where there's spend, and what to change. The property, the container, the dashboard and the logins are in your name. If we stop, you remove my access and nothing breaks.
Proof from analytics and tracking work
THT Digital and Football Circus are on my case studies page for cross platform advertising and search marketing with analytics tracking millions of views. That is the scope I delivered, and I don't claim a figure for it beyond what that page shows. Some of these came from engagements I worked on as part of an agency team, so read them as account totals rather than mine alone.
This site is the other proof. It runs consent mode, loads GA4 only after the visitor interacts, and passes 15 automated checks on every deploy, and I built it myself. I haven't published a tracking result with before and after numbers, because tracking is what makes the other results possible rather than a result on its own. Every Google Ads and SEO number on the case studies page depends on conversions being counted properly first.
What analytics and tracking costs
My prices are published. An audit of your GA4, Tag Manager, Search Console and conversions with a 30 day action plan is USD 249, about NPR 34,000. A four week sprint is USD 899, about NPR 122,000. Ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month, about NPR 245,000. What each one leaves out is on the pricing page. The first thirty minute call is free, and if the audit plus a fortnight of fixes is all the tracking you need, I'll say so rather than sell you a retainer.
Questions about analytics and tracking
Do you set up Google Analytics 4 from scratch?
Yes, or I audit and fix the one you have. Most properties I open are live but have no conversion events, so the fix is usually configuration and a clean Tag Manager container rather than a fresh start. Either way it's created in your Google account, not mine.
What about calls, WhatsApp and other offline conversions?
For most businesses in Nepal that's where the leads are, so they come first. Phone taps and WhatsApp or Viber clicks are counted as events, and calls that arrive another way can be logged in a simple sheet that feeds the report. It isn't perfect, but it's far better than counting only forms nobody fills in.
How long does the setup take?
Two to three weeks for a typical site: the audit in the first few days, then tags, conversions, consent and the dashboard. If your site has tags pasted in by several people over the years, cleaning them out can add a week. You'll have numbers you can trust from the first full month.
What does it cost, and is the audit enough?
The audit is USD 249, about NPR 34,000, and it says exactly what's broken and how to fix it. For a small site with one or two ways to enquire, that plus a fortnight of fixes is often all you need. Ongoing reporting is part of the USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000 a month) retainer, or a four week sprint at USD 899 (about NPR 122,000). The details are on the pricing page.
Will you build us a dashboard we can't understand?
No. The dashboard holds the numbers you'd use to make a decision: enquiries, cost per enquiry, which channel and which page. Everything else stays in GA4 for the day someone wants to dig. If a chart wouldn't change a decision, it doesn't go on the page.
When are you not the right person?
If you need a data warehouse, BigQuery pipelines and a team of analysts, that's a bigger job than mine and I'll say so. If you want the numbers made to look better for a board, no. And if you aren't running any marketing yet, start there, because there's nothing to measure.
