Digital Marketing for Home Services in Nepal
A pipe bursts at 9 pm, or the AC dies in the heat. The person searches "plumber near me", calls the first listing that answers, and the job is gone in five minutes. I help home services businesses in Nepal be that first call, at a cost per job that makes sense.
Animated home-services job: a customer's call rings on a phone, the booking is confirmed, a technician's van drives the street grid to the customer's house, the job completes and a five-star review appears, showing marketing for home services as turning local searches into booked, reviewed jobs.
I'm Shashikant Shah, a digital marketing expert in Kathmandu. I work with plumbers, electricians, cleaning companies, pest control, movers and AC and solar installers across Nepal on the searches that happen when something breaks: the Google Business Profile, the service and area pages, Google Ads and the tracking. Two of my published results come from home services, and they're further down this page. My prices are published, and because I'm also a software engineer I build the landing pages and the call tracking myself.
Short answer: digital marketing for a home services business in Nepal is about the ten minutes after something breaks. You need a Google Business Profile that shows up for "electrician near me" with a number that gets answered, a page per service and area, Google Ads on the urgent searches in your working hours, and call tracking so you know which one brought the job.
How people choose a home services business in Nepal
Almost nobody plans to hire a plumber. The tap breaks, they type "plumber near me" or "AC repair Kathmandu" into Google, and the map shows three businesses. They call the one with a rating, recent reviews and a number that picks up. If the phone rings out, they call the next one.
The second path is the group chat and Facebook. "Anyone know a good electrician in Bhaktapur?" gets three names in a minute. The person still checks your Business Profile before they call. A listing with no photos and two reviews from 2021 loses to one that looks alive.
Then there are the marketplaces. Hamrobazar listings and Facebook groups bring enquiries, but they also bring a price war, and the customer belongs to the platform. The customer who found you on Google and called is yours.
Demand moves with the calendar. Cleaning and painting enquiries jump before Dashain and Tihar, AC installs come in the hot weeks before the monsoon, and solar and water heater work picks up before winter. A business that fixes its listing and its pages in Bhadra takes the Ashwin rush.
The problems I see most often:
- A Google Business Profile with the wrong category, no service areas, a number nobody answers after 6 pm, and reviews that stopped in 2022.
- One page for the whole business. "Plumber in Lalitpur" and "AC repair in Pokhara" both land on a homepage that lists every service and ranks for none.
- Google Ads on broad keywords, running at 2 am, paying for "plumbing course" and "how to fix a tap yourself".
- No call tracking, so nobody knows whether a job came from the ads, the SEO or a cousin's recommendation.
- No way to take the job when the phone isn't answered: no WhatsApp button, no Viber, no callback form.
What I do for home services
- Google Business Profile management: the right category, service areas, services with starting prices, photos from real jobs, and a reply to every review.
- Local SEO: a page for each service and each area, in the words people type, so "electrician in Bhaktapur" finds you and not a directory.
- Google Ads: search campaigns on the urgent phrases only, call ads in your working hours, negatives for the DIY and job searches, and a landing page that matches what was searched.
- Landing pages with a tap to call button, a WhatsApp link, the service list and the areas you cover, built to load on a cheap phone. I build them myself, as part of web development.
- A WhatsApp assistant that takes the address, the problem and a photo while you're on a job. That's part of AI chatbot and agent development.
- Tracking: calls, WhatsApp clicks and form fills counted in your own Google Ads, Analytics and Business Profile, so every job has a source.
The first 90 days
Days 1 to 30. I fix what's already there. The Business Profile gets the right category, service areas, services with prices, hours and real job photos. Call tracking and conversion tracking go in so there's a baseline. If ads are already running, I cut the waste first: broad match, night hours, DIY searches.
Days 31 to 60. The service and area pages go live, each with a call button and a WhatsApp link. The ads are rebuilt around the urgent phrases, in your working hours, pointing at a matching page. The review request goes out after every job, a short message your staff send with the bill.
Days 61 to 90. I sit down with you and go through the numbers: calls, WhatsApp messages, form fills and cost per job against the baseline. Then you decide where the next quarter goes: more budget for the season, a second city or a new service. You get all of this as a written plan before we start, with what's not included.
Who I've worked with in home services
Two of the results I publish come from home services. In a Google Ads account, cost per acquisition went from NPR 4,722 to NPR 2,571, a 46% drop, over 90 days. In a local SEO engagement, qualified leads went from 12 to 15 a month to 42 to 48 a month, about three times, and organic visits went from 450 to 2,847.
Some of my published results came from engagements I worked on as part of an agency team, so read them as the account totals. Both are on my case studies page with their baselines and timeframes. I won't invent a client I don't have.
What it costs for home services businesses
My prices are published. An audit of your Business Profile, your ads account and your tracking with a 30 day action plan is USD 249, about NPR 34,000. A four week sprint is USD 899, about NPR 122,000. Ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month, about NPR 245,000. What each one leaves out is on the pricing page. The first thirty minute call is free, and if you only need the ads account cleaned up, I'll say so.
Questions home services businesses ask
Do you guarantee my business will rank in the map pack?
No. I don't guarantee rankings, and anyone who does is guessing with your money. What I can promise is the work: the right category, the service areas, a page per service and area, and a monthly report that shows map views, calls and direction requests against the baseline.
How much should a plumber or electrician spend on Google Ads?
It depends on your city and how many jobs a day you can actually take. I'd rather start small on the urgent phrases in your working hours, measure cost per job for a month, then raise the budget where it's already paying. I'll give you a starting figure on the first call, once I've seen your area.
How soon will the phone ring more?
Ads bring calls within days once the waste is cut. A fixed Business Profile usually shows more calls and direction requests within four to six weeks. Ranking for searches like "plumber in Lalitpur" takes longer, usually three to six months. You get the 90 day plan with those timings written down.
Is paid advertising worth it for a home services business?
Usually yes, because the search is urgent and the person calls the first business that answers. It stops being worth it when nobody picks up the phone, or when the ads run at 2 am for a business that opens at 9. I fix those first, then you spend.
When are you not the right person?
If you want someone to answer the phone or dispatch the jobs, that's a receptionist or an operations person, not me. If you get all your work from one marketplace, you don't need me either. And if your area is so small that a correct listing and three good reviews will do it, I'll tell you that on the free call and you can do it yourself.
Do you work with businesses outside Kathmandu?
Yes. Most of the work happens in your own accounts and can be done from anywhere. I've worked with businesses across Nepal and in eight countries, and I travel for the first meeting when it helps.

Send me your trade and the areas you cover. I'll look at your Business Profile, your pages and your ads account if you have one, and tell you the one thing I'd fix first, whether or not you hire me.
