SEO Expert in Nepal
I'm Shashikant Shah, an SEO expert and consultant in Kathmandu, and a software engineer with a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. That matters more than the title: when I find what's wrong with your site, I fix it myself instead of handing a report to someone who'll misread it. This page is about how I work, what you can check before you trust me, and whether I'm the right person for your problem.
Short answer: an SEO expert in Nepal gets your website found for the searches that bring customers, not just traffic. That means a site Google can read, pages that match what people actually type, and enough credibility to beat the competitors already ranking. The title proves nothing on its own. What matters is whether the person can find the real problem on a site they've never seen, and fix it.
What an SEO expert actually does
Strip away the jargon and SEO is four questions, asked in order. The skill isn't knowing a checklist. It's spotting where the chain breaks, and not reaching for a favourite tactic.
- Can Google reach and read your pages? If not, nothing else matters. This is technical SEO, and it's where I find the most damage in Nepal.
- Do your pages match what buyers actually search? A perfect page can target a phrase nobody types, or one typed only by students and job seekers.
- Is the page good enough to earn the click and the enquiry? Ranking isn't the finish line. A result people scroll past is worth nothing.
- Are you credible enough to outrank equally good competitors? That's links, mentions and reputation, and it's the slowest part.
I'll tell you which of these I can back with evidence and which are still my best guess. On my own site, an automated audit said the technical health was strong while non-brand clicks were zero. Chasing a higher technical score would have been the wrong job; the real problem was somewhere else.
Expert, specialist, professional or consultant?
People use these words as if they mean the same thing, and none of them is a protected qualification. Expert usually means depth of judgement. Specialist means a narrower focus within search. Professional just means someone does it for money. Consultant means they'll diagnose and advise, and may or may not do the work themselves.
Don't judge competence by the most confident label. Ask whether the person has actually done the parts your situation touches:
| Area of judgement | What a capable person should recognise | Useful evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Technical | Discovery, rendering, indexing and site-change risks | An audit excerpt, migration plan or implemented correction |
| Content and intent | The difference between a reader's task and a target keyword | A page map, brief or before-and-after example with rationale |
| Local | The boundary between website work and Business Profile work | A location-specific diagnosis rather than a generic citation list |
| Reputation | Why sustainable mentions differ from manufactured links | A transparent acquisition method and relevant examples |
| Measurement | The difference between visibility, visits and qualified enquiries | A report that shows decisions, not only charts |
Wider isn't always better. For a migration, a big e-commerce catalogue or a local visibility problem, a focused specialist can be the best choice. Anyone claiming to master every branch should be able to show it. The SEO consulting page covers my commercial scope and deliverables; this page is about me as the person doing the work.
Range beyond traditional results
Search now means classic results, answer boxes and AI-generated answers. I work across the related disciplines below, but a new acronym isn't proof of a new technical system:
- Answer engine optimisation is about being the answer that gets pulled out: the featured snippet, the People Also Ask entry, the voice result.
- Generative engine optimisation is about being cited and recommended inside AI-generated answers.
Google's official guidance for AI features says there are no extra technical requirements or special schema for those surfaces. So a credible specialist should explain what's genuinely different, without selling you the ordinary foundations twice.
What SEO in Nepal costs, in one table
Prices are in USD and NPR because about half the people who read this page are outside Nepal and the other half pay in rupees. The NPR figures are approximate at Nepal Rastra Bank's rate and the USD figure is the one on the invoice.
| Option | Price | What it buys | When you see change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Audit and quick wins | USD 249 (about NPR 34,000) | Full technical and content audit, a 30 day action plan, the fixes I can make on the spot | Technical fixes show in Search Console in 4 to 8 weeks |
| Growth sprint, four weeks | USD 899 (about NPR 122,000) | SEO foundations, one paid campaign, a conversion pass, measurement set up in your accounts | Same 4 to 8 weeks for technical work; competitive terms take 4 to 6 months |
| Retainer and automation | USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000) | Ongoing SEO, content and reporting, with automation for the repetitive checks | Monthly report in plain language, split by brand and non-brand |
| Nepali agency retainers, for comparison | NPR 15,000 to 90,000 a month | Varies widely; the low end buys a few hours a month | See what SEO costs in Nepal for the published price lists |
How to check my work
I'd rather show you something you can inspect than a gallery of traffic charts with no explanation. My published audit of this site records an unflattering finding: a healthy technical score hid zero non-brand clicks over the period measured. The article shows where the data stops and what decision it changed. The code behind my development work is on GitHub, and my education and work history are on the who-is page.
If you're deciding whether to hire anyone at all, including the questions to ask, who should own the accounts and the warning signs, read my guide to hiring an SEO consultant in Nepal. I've kept that checklist off this page on purpose. The wider version is my guide to choosing a digital marketing expert in Nepal.
How I work on an SEO engagement
Diagnosis first, and you get the findings whether or not you hire me for the fix. I'd rather tell you your problem is a Google Business Profile category and lose the retainer than sell you six months of content you didn't need.
- Measure before recommending. Search Console data, a full crawl, and the raw HTML rather than the rendered page. If I can't show you where a number came from, I don't use it.
- Name the constraint. One of the four questions above is the bottleneck. Everything else is context.
- Fix it myself where it's technical. I work as a developer as well as a consultant, so redirects, rendering and schema get implemented, not described in a report for someone else to misread.
- Report honestly, including when it didn't work. Split by brand and non-brand, because a total hides whether search is bringing you strangers or just people who already knew your name.
What I won't do: guarantee a position, make up evidence, hide uncertainty, or use access to your accounts as leverage. Google itself says no one can guarantee a number-one ranking. What it costs: an audit with a 30-day action plan is USD 249 (about NPR 34,000), a four-week growth sprint (SEO foundations, one paid campaign and a conversion pass) is USD 899 (about NPR 122,000), and ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000). What's included at each level is on the pricing page, and I've compared the whole Nepali market in what SEO costs in Nepal; scope and deliverables are on the SEO consulting page.
Where I fit, and where I don't
I combine software engineering and growth work, so I'm most useful where a search problem crosses the line between the website, its content and the measurement. My full record, education and work history included, is on the who-is page and the about page.
I started as a software engineer and picked up growth work on the job, which is why my services overlap instead of sitting in separate boxes. In practice they're one system:
| Discipline | What it buys you |
|---|---|
| SEO | Visibility in traditional search results |
| AEO | Visibility in answer engines, snippets and voice |
| GEO | Being cited inside AI-generated answers |
| Digital marketing | Traffic, leads, branding and conversion |
| AI automation | Efficiency and scale, less repetitive work |
The overlap matters when it solves a problem; it's not a reason to bundle every discipline. I'm a good fit when diagnosis and implementation need to stay close together. If the work needs sustained capacity in editorial, digital PR or across many channels, a dedicated team or a larger agency may serve you better.
Where I work
I'm based in Kathmandu and work with businesses across Nepal, in your own accounts rather than mine. There are separate pages for SEO in Kathmandu, SEO in Biratnagar and local SEO in Pokhara. If you want to check your own site before spending anything, start with the free SEO tools I've written up.
Questions people ask before hiring an SEO consultant
Who is the best SEO expert in Nepal?
No list decides that, and the lists you will find are mostly written by the people on them. Run three checks on anyone, me included: one result with a start date, an end date and the account it came from; written confirmation that the site, Search Console and the Business Profile stay in your name; and a published price. Then ask whether they can fix the site themselves or have to wait for a developer. How to hire an SEO consultant in Nepal has the full checklist.
How much does SEO cost in Nepal?
Published Nepali agency retainers run from roughly NPR 15,000 to NPR 90,000 a month. My audit is USD 249 (about NPR 34,000), the four week sprint is USD 899 (about NPR 122,000) and ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000). The SEO cost guide compares the live price lists and says what each band buys.
How much does an SEO expert cost per month?
In Nepal, a freelancer charges below NPR 15,000 a month, a small agency NPR 15,000 to 40,000, and a senior person or larger agency NPR 40,000 to 90,000 and above. The price should follow the scope in writing. A one off audit is the cheapest way to find out whether you need monthly work at all.
Is SEO still worth it in 2026?
Yes, and more so where buyers search before they call. Google still carries most of Nepal's searches, and AI answers quote the same pages that rank well, so the work pays twice. It is not worth it for a business whose customers all walk in from the street; a correct Business Profile does more for them.
What does an SEO expert actually do?
Finds out why buyers aren't finding you, then fixes that cause: whether Google can read the site, whether the pages match what people search, whether the pages are good enough to earn the click, and whether you're credible enough to outrank the competition. Diagnosis before treatment.
Are SEO expert, specialist and professional different?
They overlap, and none is a regulated title. Judge the person's evidence, reasoning and working habits, not the label.
What evidence do you publish?
My working method, my technical writing, my public profiles, and a case from my own site where the segmented data contradicted the flattering headline number.
Can you guarantee first page rankings?
No, and neither can anyone else; Google says so itself. What I can commit to is the scope, the measurement, and honest reporting on whether it worked. Technical fixes usually show change in four to eight weeks; competitive commercial terms usually take four to six months.
Are you a freelance SEO expert or an agency?
One person, working as an independent consultant and specialist, not an agency. That fits focused work where technical diagnosis, implementation and measurement need one owner. Big editorial or digital PR programmes need a bigger team than one person, and I say so when that is what you need.
Do you take SEO clients outside Kathmandu?
Yes. The work runs in your own Search Console and site, so the city does not change it. There are pages for SEO in Kathmandu, SEO in Biratnagar and local SEO in Pokhara, and every city page has an SEO section for that city.
