Short answer: SEO in Nepal costs NPR 15,000 to 40,000 a month for a small local business, NPR 40,000 to 1,00,000 a month for competitive terms, and NPR 15,000 to 50,000 once for a technical audit with fixes.

The live price lists I checked on 9 October 2026 start at NPR 34,000 to 40,000 a month and top out at NPR 75,000 to 88,000, usually with a six month minimum and VAT on top. My own prices are USD 249 (about NPR 34,000) for an audit with a 30 day plan, USD 899 (about NPR 122,000) for a four week sprint, and USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000) for ongoing work. The spread is about scope and who does the hours, not quality.

SEO prices in Nepal at a glance

Here is the whole market on one table, so you can place any quote you receive. The ranges come from published Nepali price lists and guides I compared in October 2026, and from my own work.

What Nepali SEO companies publish as their prices

Most agencies in Nepal do not publish prices. The ones that do give you a useful anchor, so here are two live lists as they read on 9 October 2026. Both quote per month and both scale by keyword count and article count.

Provider and planPrice a monthKeywordsArticles a monthTerms
Softbenz, StandardNPR 34,000102Six month minimum, VAT not included
Softbenz, ProfessionalNPR 56,000204Six month minimum, VAT not included
Softbenz, PremiumNPR 88,000406Six month minimum, VAT not included
Nishant Gupta, BasicNPR 40,00072 (500 words)Discount for six months or more
Nishant Gupta, StandardNPR 55,000154 (700 words)Discount for six months or more
Nishant Gupta, PremiumNPR 75,000306 (1,000 words)Discount for six months or more

Two things to notice. A six month minimum at NPR 34,000 is an NPR 2,04,000 commitment before VAT, so the entry price is not the real price. And a keyword count tells you how the vendor plans to report, not what you will earn. Ten keywords on page one of a search nobody makes is worth nothing. One keyword that brings two enquiries a week is worth the whole fee.

What decides the price

SEO is priced by hours, and five things decide the hours. Anyone who quotes you without asking about them is guessing.

  • Who does the work. A senior person costs more per hour than a junior with a checklist, and the difference shows in the diagnosis, not in the deliverables list.
  • How competitive your terms are. "Digital marketing expert in Nepal" and "plumber in Bhaktapur" are different jobs with different timelines.
  • The state of your site. A site Google cannot read properly needs technical work before anything else matters. That is also where most of the damage sits in Nepal.
  • How much content it needs. Pages that match what buyers search for, written by someone who understands the business, take time.
  • Credibility. Links, mentions and reviews are the slowest part, and the part that decides who ranks first between two equally good sites.

Where the monthly fee goes

A fair retainer is a bundle of separate jobs. When you see them separately you can tell an NPR 40,000 quote that covers real work from one that covers two hours and a report. The shares below are my rule of thumb from the retainers I run.

JobShare of a typical monthWhat good looks like
Keyword and intent research5 to 10 percentA map of which page owns which search, updated when Search Console shows new queries.
Technical fixes10 to 20 percent, heavier in month oneCrawl errors, speed, indexing, structured data, redirects. Measured in Search Console, not in a tool score.
On page work10 to 15 percentTitles, headings, internal links and page content that answers the search.
Content30 to 40 percentTwo to four pieces a month that answer real questions from real customers, written by someone who asked you about the business.
Links and mentions15 to 25 percentOutreach to real sites, directories that matter, client and partner links. Never bought links.
Reporting5 to 10 percentA plain language note each month: what changed, what it did, what comes next, with numbers from your own Search Console.

The three things you are really buying

Most quotes bundle three different purchases into one monthly number. Separate them and the prices start to make sense.

  1. Diagnosis. A crawl, your Search Console data, your competitors, and a written list of what to fix in what order. This is a one time purchase, and it should stand on its own whether or not you buy anything else.
  2. Implementation. Fixing the technical problems, rewriting or building the pages that matter, and setting up measurement so you can see what changed.
  3. Ongoing work. Content, links, monitoring and reporting, month after month, for as long as the terms you compete for need it.

An NPR 15,000 retainer buys a few hours a month. That is enough to maintain a small site, publish now and then, and keep things from breaking. It is not enough to move a competitive commercial term, and nobody should sell it as if it were.

Price bands in Nepal and what each one buys

Monthly priceWhat it usually buysRight for
Under NPR 20,000Maintenance. A few hours, basic fixes, an occasional post. No published Nepali guide expects a full package to produce results at this level.A small site that needs to stay healthy.
NPR 25,000 to 45,000Where live price lists start. A defined set of monthly deliverables, usually handled by a junior with oversight.Local businesses on uncontested terms.
NPR 55,000 to 90,000Competitive work with a senior person on it. The top published packages sit at NPR 75,000 to 88,000, and the difference between them is mostly who manages your account and how many articles you get.Businesses competing for commercial terms in Kathmandu or nationally.
NPR 1,00,000 and aboveSeveral people on the account, content every week, international targets or a large e-commerce catalogue.Companies selling abroad or running hundreds of product pages.

Notice what changes between the bands. The deliverables lists look similar across the market. What changes is who works on your account and how many hours they spend.

SEO or Google Ads: which should you pay for first?

Pay for Google Ads first when you need enquiries this month and your website already converts visitors. Pay for SEO first when your site has technical problems, when your buyers research before they call, or when you plan to be in business for years and want traffic that does not stop the day the budget stops.

In practice most Nepali businesses need both, in that order: a small ads test to learn which searches bring customers, then SEO on exactly those searches. I wrote the numbers for the ads side in what Google Ads costs in Nepal.

Doing SEO yourself or hiring someone

You can do the basics yourself: claim your Google Business Profile, fix your titles, write pages that answer real questions, and read Search Console once a week. That covers most of what a small business needs, and my SEO checklist for Nepali businesses walks through it step by step.

Hire someone when the problem is technical (the site is slow, pages are not indexed, a migration went wrong), when you compete for commercial terms against companies with budgets, or when your own time is worth more than the fee. A good split is to buy the diagnosis and do the implementation yourself.

One off audit or monthly retainer?

Start with an audit if your site does not produce enquiries and you do not know why. A good one tells you what is wrong, in what order to fix it, and whether you need anyone at all. Mine is written so your own developer can do the work without me. An audit that only makes sense if you also buy the implementation is a sales document, not an audit.

A retainer makes sense when you compete for terms that need consistent work over months and you want one person accountable for the outcome. It does not make sense as a way to buy "some SEO" with no target.

Contracts, minimums and what happens when you stop

Read the minimum term before the price. A six month minimum is common in Nepal and it is not wrong, because SEO takes months, but it should come with a written scope and a monthly report you can check against your own Search Console. Mine is rolling monthly with thirty days notice, because I would rather earn the next month than lock it in.

When you stop paying, the work that lives on your site stays: the fixes, the pages, the links other sites gave you. What stops is new content and new links, so rankings on competitive terms slip over months as competitors keep publishing. What you must never lose is access. If the vendor holds your Google accounts, your domain or your hosting in their name, stopping becomes expensive. Everything should sit in your name from day one.

Affordable SEO in Nepal: what a low price can and cannot include

Affordable SEO in Nepal usually means NPR 10,000 to 25,000 a month, and the question is not whether that is cheap but what fits inside it. At that price one person has a few hours for your site each month. That is enough for the basics done well: a complete Google Business Profile, correct titles and headings on the pages you already have, one or two useful articles, and a Search Console report you can read. It is not enough for a technical migration, a page for every service in every city, or link outreach, and any affordable package that lists all of those is listing them, not doing them.

If your budget is at that level, buy the pieces in order. A one time technical SEO fix first, because a site Google cannot crawl wastes every rupee spent after it. Then local SEO if you serve a city, because the map pack is where small businesses in Nepal win cheapest. Then content you write yourself from the keyword map. An affordable SEO price is fair when the scope is written down and small; it is a problem only when it promises the scope of an NPR 80,000 retainer.

What I charge

  • Audit and quick wins, USD 249 (about NPR 34,000). A crawl and technical review, an analysis of your Search Console data, a review of your ad accounts if you run any, findings on where conversions leak, and a prioritised 30 day action plan.
  • Growth sprint, USD 899 (about NPR 122,000). Four weeks covering SEO foundations, one paid campaign and a conversion pass on the pages that matter. Scoped at the start, and the scope does not move mid sprint.
  • Retainer with automation, USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000). Ongoing work across search, paid media and AI automation, reported from your own Search Console and Analytics. Rolling monthly, thirty days notice, no lock in.

I bill in USD because most of my clients are outside Nepal and one price list is better than two that drift apart, and I show NPR beside every price so a business in Nepal can compare it with a local quote. The NPR figures are indicative at Nepal Rastra Bank's rate, and what each tier leaves out is on the pricing page. My retainer sits above the Nepali agency range, and the reason is that I do the work myself. There is no junior tier to discount into. If the retainer is beyond your budget, take the audit and implement it yourself. That happens often, and it is a reasonable outcome.

What no honest price includes

  • Guaranteed rankings. Nobody controls Google's ranking systems, and Google's own documentation warns you about anyone who promises otherwise.
  • Bought links. Nepal's link market leaves obvious footprints, and the penalty lands on your domain, not the seller's.
  • Fake reviews or fake listings. Both are visible to Google and risk a manual action.
  • Accounts held in the provider's name. Everything should be created under yours, so ending the engagement costs you nothing but their access.

How long before it pays back

Technical fixes can show measurable change in four to eight weeks. Competitive commercial terms usually take four to six months. If someone promises page one in thirty days, ask how, and ask what happens to your site if they are wrong.

Work out the payback before you sign. If one new customer is worth NPR 50,000 to you and an NPR 40,000 retainer brings two customers a month after month four, the fee paid for itself. If one customer is worth NPR 2,000, SEO at that price cannot pay back and you should start with Google Business Profile and your own content instead.

Questions to ask before you pay anyone

  • Who exactly will do the work each month, and how many hours?
  • What will you fix first, and why that?
  • Which numbers will you report, and will I see them in my own Search Console?
  • How do you build links, and can I see three examples?
  • What is not included?
  • What is the minimum term, and what do I keep if we stop?

Questions about SEO prices in Nepal

How much does an SEO expert cost?

In Nepal, published guides put freelance SEO specialists at NPR 15,000 to 25,000 a month and agency retainers at NPR 15,000 to 90,000, with the live price lists clustering between NPR 34,000 and 88,000. Abroad the same work is priced in hundreds to thousands of dollars a month. The number that matters is hours of senior time per month, so ask for that before you compare two prices.

How much does it cost to hire an SEO expert in Nepal?

With me, USD 249 (about NPR 34,000) for an audit with a 30 day plan, USD 899 (about NPR 122,000) for a four week sprint, and USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000) for a retainer, with the first thirty minute call free. What that buys and who else to consider is on the SEO expert in Nepal page.

How much does SEO cost in Nepal per month?

NPR 15,000 to 40,000 a month for a small local business and NPR 40,000 to 1,00,000 or more for competitive terms. The live price lists I checked in October 2026 start at NPR 34,000 to 40,000 and top out at NPR 75,000 to 88,000, before VAT.

What is the cheapest SEO price in Nepal?

Offers exist at NPR 5,000 to 10,000 a month, and they buy a couple of hours. The cheapest useful purchase is a one time technical audit with fixes, from about NPR 15,000, followed by work you do yourself.

Is SEO for NPR 10,000 a month worth it?

For maintenance, maybe. For results on a competitive term, no. Below about NPR 20,000 a month no published Nepali guide expects a full package to work, and a complete SEO, social and ads package at NPR 10,000 to 15,000 does not add up in hours.

How much does an SEO audit cost in Nepal?

NPR 15,000 to 50,000 from Nepali providers. Mine is USD 249 (about NPR 34,000), with a 30 day action plan your own developer can follow. Agency audits are often folded into a retainer instead of priced on their own, which makes them hard to compare.

Why do SEO prices vary so much between companies in Nepal?

Because the hours and the seniority vary, and the deliverables lists hide that. Two quotes at NPR 40,000 can be two senior days of work or ten junior hours. Ask who does the work and how many hours before you compare prices.

Why is SEO expensive?

Because it is skilled labour over months. Content that answers real questions, technical fixes that need a developer, and outreach for links all take time, and the time of people who know what they are doing costs money. Cheap SEO is usually the same deliverables list with the hours removed.

Is SEO free?

The traffic is free; the work is not. You pay with your own time or with someone else's. What you never pay for is the click, which is the difference from Google Ads.

Is SEO still worth it in 2026?

Yes, when your customers search before they buy. AI answers now sit above the results, and they cite the pages that answer clearly, so the same work that ranks a page also gets it quoted. SEO is not worth it for a product nobody searches for; use ads or social to create the demand first.

What should a basic SEO package in Nepal include?

A technical check with the problems fixed, a keyword map that says which page owns which search, titles and headings written for those searches, Google Business Profile completed, at least two useful articles a month, and a monthly report from your own Search Console.

How many keywords should an SEO package target?

Fewer than the package says. Five to ten searches that bring customers beat forty that bring a report. Start with the terms your buyers type when they are ready to call, and expand once those move.

What should a monthly SEO report include?

Clicks, impressions and position for the searches that matter, from Search Console; the enquiries those visits produced; what was done this month; what changed because of it; and what comes next. A report without your own Search Console numbers in it is marketing, not reporting.

Should I sign a six month SEO contract?

Only with a written scope and a report you can check each month. Six months is a fair timeline for SEO. It is not a fair reason to stop you leaving a vendor who does nothing.

What happens to my rankings if I stop paying?

The fixes and the pages stay and keep working. New content and new links stop, so competitive rankings slip over months as competitors keep publishing. Keep every account in your own name so that stopping costs you nothing but their time.

Should I pay monthly or one time?

One time if you do not yet know what is wrong. Monthly only when you compete for terms that need sustained work and you have agreed what "working" means in numbers.

Can I do SEO myself?

Yes, for the basics: Google Business Profile, titles, pages that answer real questions, and reading Search Console. Hire help for technical problems, migrations and competitive commercial terms.

Why do you show prices in USD and NPR?

Because I work for clients in Nepal and in eight countries. USD is the billing currency so there is one price list, and the NPR figure sits beside it at Nepal Rastra Bank's rate so a Nepali business can compare without a calculator. Clients in Nepal can pay the NPR equivalent by bank transfer.
