Digital Marketing in Pokhara, Nepal
A trekker in Sydney or Berlin chooses a Pokhara agency or a Lakeside hotel months before they land, from a Google search and a booking page that either works or doesn't. Someone in Chipledhunga searches "dentist near me" and picks from three names on a map. I work on both, from Kathmandu, in your own accounts.

Pokhara, Nepal
I'm Shashikant Shah, a digital marketing expert based in Kathmandu. I work with businesses in Pokhara remotely, in their own accounts, and I travel to Pokhara for the first meeting when it helps. I'm useful to trekking agencies, Lakeside hotels, restaurants and paragliding operators whose customers book from abroad, and to the clinics, shops and housing projects around Chipledhunga, Mahendrapul and New Road. I'm also a software engineer, so I build the booking pages myself. The wider picture is on my SEO expert in Nepal page.
Short answer: working with me from Pokhara starts with a free thirty minute call. Then a written audit and 30 day plan for USD 249 (about NPR 34,000), and monthly work in your own accounts with a plain language report. For a tourism business the plan is built around the October to November and March to April seasons.
How people in Pokhara find a business
Two things make Pokhara different. The tourism buyer is usually abroad, in Australia, the UK, the USA, Germany or India, and plans months ahead. They search "Annapurna trek cost" or "Lakeside hotel with lake view", read the reviews, compare you against an OTA and message on WhatsApp. Your ranking in their country matters more than your ranking in Nepal.
The second thing is the season. October to November and March to April carry the year for Lakeside, the Annapurna trekking gateway and paragliding at Sarangkot. Visibility built in Bhadra is earning by Ashwin.
Then there's the city that lives here all year. Chipledhunga, Mahendrapul and New Road have the shops, clinics and colleges that residents search for: Maps first, then Facebook, then a phone call.
Lakeside hotels and restaurants booked before the season
A Lakeside room in Pokhara is chosen in July for October, from Sydney, London or Delhi, by someone comparing your page against an OTA. Photos, prices in their currency, reviews and a WhatsApp reply inside an hour win the booking.
Trekking and paragliding agencies selling abroad
Annapurna trekking and Sarangkot paragliding are bought by people who have never been to Pokhara, searching "Annapurna base camp trek cost" in their own country. Ranking in Nepal does nothing for that agency; ranking in Australia, the UK and Germany does.
Prithvi Chowk, New Road and Chipledhunga retail for the city that lives here
Residents of Pokhara search Maps for a dentist, a college or a showroom around Chipledhunga, Mahendrapul and New Road, then check Facebook and call. Those searches are won by the right category, current hours and reviews that are answered.
Gandaki Province: the towns that buy from Pokhara
Pokhara is the market town for Gandaki Province. Patients from Syangja, students from Baglung and buyers from Gorkha and Tanahun search for a Pokhara hospital, college or supplier from their own district, so a service area and a page that names those towns bring enquiries the city radius misses.
The problems I see most often:
- A trekking site that ranks in Nepal and nowhere else, so the buyer in Sydney never sees it.
- A booking form that fails on a phone, so the traveller goes back to the OTA.
- Ads switched on in October, when the traveller booked in July.
What I do for businesses in Pokhara
- SEO for trekking and hospitality: pages that rank in the countries your guests come from, for the treks and rooms they search for. You get direct enquiries instead of OTA commissions.
- Local SEO in Pokhara: the profile, area pages and reviews for Lakeside and for the resident city. You get the map pack for "hotel in Lakeside" and "dentist in Mahendrapul" alike.
- Google Ads on the queries travellers type, with the right country targeting, and Meta ads for people saving Nepal content months out. You get enquiries before the season.
- Web development in Pokhara: a booking path that works on a phone, fast pages and payment that works from abroad. You get a site you own, on hosting you control.
- Google Business Profile management and tracking: current hours, real photos, a reply to every review, and bookings and calls counted in your own Analytics by country. You get a monthly report that says what changed.
If you run a restaurant or cafe in Lakeside or in town, that page says what I do for food businesses.
SEO in Pokhara
SEO in Pokhara has two halves that need different work. The tourism half is international: a trekking agency or a Lakeside hotel has to rank in Australia, the UK, Germany and India for "Annapurna base camp trek cost" or "lake view hotel Pokhara", months before the season, against the booking sites. The resident half is local: a dentist in Mahendrapul, a college in Chipledhunga or a tile showroom on the Prithvi Highway needs the map pack and a page for each service.
I do both. For tourism businesses that means pages per trek or room type, country targeting, reviews and a booking path that works on a phone. For resident businesses it means the Business Profile, service pages and speed. All of it runs in your own Search Console. Local SEO in Pokhara covers the Maps side and SEO for trekking and hospitality covers the international side.
Websites for Pokhara businesses
A traveller in Sydney decides between you and a booking site in about thirty seconds, on a phone, late at night. If your trek page loads slowly, the dates are not clear, the price is hidden and the enquiry form fails, the commission goes to the OTA. I have audited enough Lakeside sites to know this is the normal case, not the exception.
I build booking paths that work abroad: fast pages, clear itineraries and prices, WhatsApp and email that reach you, payment that works from a foreign card where you need it, and tracking that records which country the enquiry came from. For resident businesses the same discipline applies at a smaller scale. Web development in Pokhara has the stack and the prices.
Google Ads in Pokhara
Google Ads in Pokhara means deciding which country pays. For a trekking agency or a Lakeside hotel I run campaigns targeted at Australia, the UK, the USA, Germany and India, in English, with budgets in USD and a landing page that quotes in the traveller's currency, switched on months before the season. For a Pokhara clinic or college the campaign is a city radius with NPR budgets and call tracking. Both run in your own ad account, spend is separate from my fee and goes from your own card. The published benchmark is a cost per lead that went from NPR 3,500 to NPR 2,100 at steady spend. Method on the Google Ads expert in Nepal page.
How it works from Pokhara
First call. Thirty minutes, free, on the phone or a video call. You tell me what's not working, and I tell you whether I'm the right person.
Audit and plan. I go through your profile, your site, your ads and your tracking. You get a written plan with the order of work and what's not included.
Monthly work and report. The work happens in your accounts, with you as the owner. Every month you get a plain language report from your own Search Console, Analytics and ad accounts. I travel to Pokhara when a project needs it, for a working session with your team.

Choosing someone for digital marketing in Pokhara
Pokhara has good local agencies, several of them strong on social media and photography for hotels and restaurants. The gap I see is on the search and engineering side: ranking abroad, fixing the booking path, and tracking enquiries by country. If that is your problem, you need someone who can open Search Console and the code, not only the Instagram account.
Whoever you shortlist, ask for a dated result, proof that the site and the ad accounts stay in your name, and a written price. I work from Kathmandu, travel to Pokhara for the first meeting when it helps, and publish my case studies and Google reviews so you can check before you call.
Proof from work like yours in Pokhara
I haven't published a result from a Pokhara business yet, and I won't invent one. The nearest published results by mechanism are both from Kathmandu. An ecommerce shop went from 2,300 to 13,500 organic sessions a month in 12 months, up 487%, and revenue led by organic search roughly tripled. A clinic's map views went from about 2,100 to about 9,240 a month in six months, up 340%, with calls up about 85%.
Some of these came from engagements I worked on as part of an agency team, so read them as account totals rather than mine alone. Maps, search and ads work the same way in Pokhara. What changes is the country the buyer searches from and the season. The baselines and dates are on the case studies page.
What it costs in Pokhara
My prices are published. An audit of your Google profile, your pages and your tracking in Pokhara with a 30 day action plan is USD 249, about NPR 34,000. A four week sprint is USD 899, about NPR 122,000. Ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month, about NPR 245,000. What each one leaves out is on the pricing page. The first thirty minute call is free, and if a single guesthouse only needs the audit before the season, I'll say so.
Questions from Pokhara businesses
How much does digital marketing cost in Pokhara?
For a Pokhara business the audit with a 30 day plan is USD 249 (about NPR 34,000), the four week sprint is USD 899 (about NPR 122,000) and ongoing work is USD 1,800 a month (about NPR 245,000). International clients pay in USD, Pokhara clients can pay the NPR figure. Ad spend is separate and goes from your own card. Details on the pricing page.
How do I choose a digital marketing agency or consultant in Pokhara?
Separate the social media work, which several Pokhara agencies do well, from the search and website work, which needs someone who can open Search Console and the code. Ask for a dated result, proof that your accounts stay in your name and a written price. I publish all three on this site.
Can you do SEO for a business in Pokhara?
Yes. For trekking agencies and Lakeside hotels the work is ranking in the countries your guests search from, with a booking path that works on a phone. For clinics, colleges and showrooms in Mahendrapul, Chipledhunga and New Road it is the map pack and service pages. Both run in your own accounts.
Do you have an office in Pokhara?
No. I'm based in Kathmandu and work with Pokhara businesses remotely, in your own accounts. I travel to Pokhara when a project needs it, usually for the first meeting or a working session with your team.
How long until we see results?
For a tourism business it depends on when you start against the season. Pages built and ads tested by Bhadra show up in enquiries for the October to November window. For a resident business, profile fixes show in calls within four to six weeks.
Do you work with trekking agencies and Lakeside hotels?
Yes. The work is international SEO, ads targeted to the countries your guests come from, and a booking path that works on a phone. The trekking and hospitality page has the detail.
Is this a digital marketing course in Pokhara?
No. I don't run a digital marketing course in Pokhara or anywhere else; I do the work for businesses. Several institutes in Pokhara run training, and the digital marketing in Nepal guide is free if you want to learn the method first.
When are you not the right person?
If you want a promise of rankings, bought reviews or bought followers, I'll say no. If you need someone at Lakeside every day or a full time social media manager, I'll point you to people who do that.
